White has consequently cancelled the remainder of his Mexican tour
Renowned musician Isaiah 'Ikey' Owens, formerly of The Mars Volta and most recently Jack White's keyboardist, has died at the age of 38 while on tour in Puebla, Mexico.
The news first broke via Mexican outlet Periodico Digital before being confirmed by label Third Man Records on both their official website and Jack White's Facebook page in a message titled We Love You, Ikey, posted early this morning (AEST). The label confirmed at the same time that White would be cancelling the remaining shows of his Mexican tour in honour of Owens.
"It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah "Ikey" Owens," the message read. "He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans. Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White's backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects.
"Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled. We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist."

Aside from the incredible music, the things we've read today about #IkeyOwens make us sad we never met him. Condolences to those who did.

"Deloused" was the first time that I ever really recognized the range of organ. The tension and release of it, the chaos. Thank you, Ikey.
