The Triffid opens its doors at the end of the month
Brisbane's newest live-music space, The Triffid, has revealed the list of acts who will grace its stage in its early days following the forthcoming launch of the venue on October 30, with a welcome event featuring the likes of Hello Hokkaido, Outliers and Avaberée to get things off on the right foot.
In addition to those acts, the opening event — a three-night event dubbed Triffid Seeds, designed to showcase the city's finest emerging acts — will feature performances from The Royales, Tundra and Salvadarlings, all for free.
From there, the venue will host its official launch party on November 8, with live showings from renowned Melburnian nine-piece Saskwatch, local indie heroes The Creases and Byron Bay's MT Warning lending the evening its soundtrack. The following evening, the Triffid Roots program — held in the beer garden every Sunday, curated and hosted by triple j host Sarah Howells — kicks off with appearances from Pat Tierney and Liam Gerner.
That's not all — there are TBA dates in the pipeline for local legends of all walks, including Ed Kuepper, Paul Dempsey, Giants Of Science, The Gin Club, Screamfeeder, The Delta Riggs, Megan Washington and more.
The venue, which has been co-developed by ex-Powderfinger bassist John Collins and industry icons Paul Piticco and Jessica Ducrou (Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, Secret Sounds Touring) alongside hospitality vet Brett McCall, has been in development for a year and a half, and takes over a historic WWII-era hangar located in the suburb of Newstead to provide the city with a new 800-capacity space for live music. It will be open Tuesday-Sunday.
