Senegalese Revolutionist Leads 2015 WOMAD Bill

World renowned Senegalese musician and social activist Youssou N’Dour has been announced for the 2015 WOMADelaide festival, which has today unveiled 25 international acts.

The South Australian festivalwill see N’Dour – who as well as bringing Senegalese and wider African music to the world is an important political figures – play alongside the likes of legendary rapper and broadcaster Neneh Cherry With RocketNumberNine+ and public information films re-imaginers Public Service Broadcasting.

Taking place Friday 6 – Monday 9 March next year, the full line-up features: folk supergroup The Gloaming, South African jazz composer Abdullah Ibrahim’s Quartet, world party crew Balkan Beat Box, Niger’s Bombino, Southern Italy Pizzica-style Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, US bluesman Charlie Musselwhite, punk-reggae outfit Che Sudaka, Brazilian rapper Criolo, Balkan brass band Fanfar Ciocarlia, Samba reggae from Flavia Coelho, bluegrass group Gordie MacKeeman & His Rhythm Boys, Korean instrument-driven Jambinai, Kinshasa-inspired Jupiter & Okwess International, Boston’s Lake Street Dive, film-inspired Live Live Cinema, Bolivian singer Luzmila i Carpio, Marrugeku Theatre’s production Cut The Sky, the Malawi Mouse Boys, India’ Meeta Pandit and the leader of the Palestine National Ensemble Of Arabic Music Ramzi Aburedwan & Ensemble Dal 'Ouna plus special presentations The Best Of Rufus Wainwright and Soil And ‘Pimp’ Sessions.

The next round of artists will be announced Tuesday 28 October, with tickets available now from WOMADelaide.com.au.
