Party on for a good cause with Ash Grunwald, Deep Sea Arcade, The Medics and more!
The first Rock For The Reef fundraiser has announced the roster of acts that will form its impressive line-up when it hits the Brisbane Powerhouse on Saturday, November 1, led by ubiquitous troubadour Ash Grunwald, stalwart indie outfit Deep Sea Arcade and seasoned rockers The Medics, among several others.
The event, which is organised by Green Music Australia in conjunction with the Australian Marine Conservation Society and Australian Youth Climate Coalition, is designed to raise awareness and funds for conservation of the Great Barrier Reef.
“If we're going to really protect the wonder that is the Great Barrier Reef, we’re going to have to open our hearts and minds to different ways of doing things,” Green Music Australia founder Tim Hollo said in a statement. “And nothing opens hearts and minds better than music. I am so inspired by the commitment of all these great artists who are giving their time to this event, and I have no doubt audiences will be too.”
Further filling out the bill will be revered vets Resin Dogs, ascendant howler Steve Smyth, the venerated Reg Mombassa (who provided the event’s logo) and Dog Trumpet, Canberran contemporaries Fox And Fowl, West Australian electro-swing luminaries Formidable Vegetable Sound System, the aptly named Bandito Folk, acoustic roots/hip-hop/reggae mastermind The Lyrical, graceful songstress Jac Stone, fellow acclaimed Queenslander Sahara Beck and flame-haired chanteuse Alesa Lajana taking the grand total of acts on offer for the day of education and entertainment up to thirteen, with sonic flavours on tap for everyone, no matter their taste.
