Triple M Modern Rock Digital hits the air this weekend
Nationally renowned rock network Triple M has announced plans to launch a digital station this weekend, based – encouragingly – out of Perth and Adelaide.
The station, which has been dubbed Triple M Modern Rock Digital, is designed to highlight the finest of rock tracks from the turn of the century to date, with featured artists including the likes of The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Alt-J and, erm, Linkin Park, as well as celebrated Aussie acts including Kingswood, Boy & Bear and the John Butler Trio.
“Cut Triple M open and we bleed rock music,” Triple M Network head Mike Fitzpatrick said in a statement. “It’s a beautiful, ever-evolving art form created by the hands of musical craftsmen and women. The evolution of rock is such that we’ve built a place where the new sounds and varied styles of the genre can live.
“Unlike our taxpayer-funded ‘youth network’, Triple M Modern Rock Digital isn’t elitist. We don’t care about ‘cool’ music or ‘on trend right now’ styles. If it’s a great song, we’ll play it. Whether it’s created in a garage by four blokes on instruments or a woman with an acoustic sitting on a bed, Triple M Modern Rock is their new home on Digital Radio.”

The addition of Triple M Modern Rock Digital to the fold will complement Adelaide’s existing Classic Triple M station, while Perth will see it join a stable that includes Triple M Classic Rock Digital and mix 94.5.
The new station will launch at 9pm (AEST) this Saturday, September 27, and will be available on digital radio in Perth and Adelaide or via the Triple M app (available on iPhone and Android) or its website.
