Well, that eja-- escalated quickly
Infamous explicit streaming site Pornhub has announced that it will be expanding its reach into the music industry by launching Pornhub Records, it has been reported.
After conscripting octopi-haired rap icon Coolio to write and release a promotional track for the pornographic juggernaut earlier this year (contrary to early assertions, it was not a deal for him to release music through the site), it would seem the site is making a considered play for a slice of the music market.
"We've always seen a strong music presence from the beginning of Pornhub," the company's head of PR and marketing, Matt Blake, told Billboard. "Artists upload their own stuff, like uncensored tracks and R-rated versions of songs. Some people come in and upload exclusive videos, so it creates a buzz for them."
The announcement of the new label comes in tandem with the opening of Pornhub's Song Search competition, the winner of which stands to gain $5,000 in funding for a music video to be featured on the site, with a minimum guarantee of 500,000 views. Vice-president Cory Price explained the contest further: "We're looking for acts that aren't necessarily porn-focused. We're an ad-based network looking for content that appeals to our demographic. Mature lyrics for an adult audience; no boy bands or teen-pop, for instance.

"Producers, music technicians, everyone in the business you could imagine," he continued. "There's erotic folk, rap, country — everybody has come to us."
The successful entrant will join a growing list of artists to have released creative work via the site — Coolio aside, electronic whiz FaltyDL dropped his clip for recent single Some Jazz Shit via Pornhub, while renowned avant-garde/noise rock mainstays Xiu Xiu unveiled the clip for Black Dick (oh, stop it) back in February, well before Coolio's "deal" was publicised.
Aaaaaaand let the "12-inch release" jokes begin.
