But Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah may have a solution up his sleeve

More The Ocean More The Ocean

German metal outfit The Ocean (alternatively The Ocean Collective) have made a public plea for assistance in making it Down Under after a planned Australian tour was abruptly cancelled following a dispute with the promoter.

"Australians, we were supposed to tour Australia in early 2015, but unfortunately, the promoter proved to be a flake... at a stage when we are already very far into planning details of the logistics of this tour," the band wrote on their social media accounts, accompanied by an image of the poster art for the tour with "CANCELLED...?" emblazoned across it.

"We would really like to come and play, but need to find a reliable agency/promoter to commit to making this happen. So please share... Thank you."

The band had eight dates scheduled in Australia between Thursday, January 8, and Saturday, January 17, with planned stops in the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Fans were quick to offer their support, with many commenters offering up links and email addresses for prospective replacements, though the most serious headway seems to have come from one fan putting the band in touch with renowned promoter and established tour saviour AJ Maddah of Soundwave.

When another fan expressed their excitement over the potential addition and quasi-resurrection of The Ocean's tour, Maddah was coy in his response, but the vibe is certainly a positive one - as positive as a smiley-face emoticon can be, anyway.

Keep your eyes peeled for further updates as to the status of The Ocean's 2015 Aussie tour.
