Aubrey Plaza Cast As Voice Of Grumpy Cat

Purr-fect.

Parks And Recreation star Aubrey Plaza has been cast as the voice of feline internet senstation Tardar Sauce The Grumpy Cat in Lifetime's forthcoming Christmas movie about the foul-faced kitty.

Although Emmy-winner Jane Lynch had previously been tapped to lend her vocal talents to Tard's big-screen debut, Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever, she recently backed out, leaving the field open for what is honestly one of the most perfect pieces of casting we've ever seen.

The infamously deadpan Plaza didn't explicitly confirm the news, but she certainly did nothing to derail the train when she tweeted a Christmas-specific Grumpy Cat pic to Twitter earlier today.

Previously described as "a little bit Home Alone" and "a little bit Die Hard", Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever will air on November 29 in the US. Penned by Garfield 2 (sigh) writer Tim Hill and fellow scribe Jeff Morris, the film will follow Tardar's journey from malcontent pet-store dweller to presumably-still-malcontent object of a little girl's affection in what promises to be at least a partially endearing adventure. At its very worst, you'll just be looking at Grumpy Cat and listening to Aubrey Plaza talk for 90 minutes, so it's not any different to surfing Imgur while watching Parks & Rec in the background, honestly.

Aussie screening details are yet to be publicised, but with any luck we'll all be able to gather round the idjit box during the festive season for a heartwarming adventure with the world's favourite ug-dorable pet.
