Your chance to get an early taste of yet-to-be-released gaming glory comes this October

Annual video-game convention the EB Expo is upon us once more, and this year the event organisers have nabbed themselves a truly impressive roster of as-yet-unreleased games to light the way for 2014's event.

“This year's expo is all about the next generation of gaming," EB Games' national brand, events and engagement manager, Debra McGrath, said. "We've never had a line-up this massive."

She's not exaggerating - going down at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, from October 3-5, the EB Expo will give gaming enthusiasts their first chance to see how work's coming on some of the most eagerly awaited virtual titles yet to hit shelves, including Assassin's Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, Evolve, Sunset Overdrive, potential Wii U saviour Super Smash Bros., Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor, Battlefield: Hardline, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, LittleBigPlanet 3 and several others.

Attendees will also have the chance to try their hand at actual gameplay time for Q4 2014 releases such as Forza Horizon 2NBA 2K15, WWE 2K15, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, The Crew, Alien: Isolation, The Evil Within and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Playable titles due for release in 2015 include The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, #DRIVECLUB, Project Cars and Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

If you're more a family-focused type, you can check out the Expo's Family Day, held on the Sunday (October 5), where you and the tribe can have a crack at the forthcoming Just Dance 2015, enjoy the SingStar: Ultimate Party experience and hone their skills with LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and surreptitious money-sink Disney Infinity 2.0.

If you're a Skylanders fan, make sure to spend some time with that game - each ticket-holder who does so gets themselves a free and exclusive Gearshift Trap Master Character, which won't be available for anyone else until 2015.

Rounding out the weekend will be plenty of activities and events such as free Robot Wars shows, the retrospective Freeplay City, which puts the spotlight on all generations of gaming, and a series of panels, cosplay competitions and more via the Community Hub.

Tickets for the 2014 EB Expo are available now. See the convention's website for more information.
