Channel [V] Reveals Artist Of The Year Finalists

Foxtel's Channel [V] has announced the bands and artists who make up the list of finalists for the renowned music station's 2014 Australian Artist Of The Year award.

This year, 49 artists have made the cut, with nominations for the fiftieth, "wild card", act now open at the channel's website. Previous winners of the award have included the likes of Seth Sentry, 360, Silverchair and 5 Seconds Of Summer, who are nominated once more for the prize in 2014.

Along with the pop-punk upstarts, Iggy Azalea, Violent Soho, DMA's, The Jezabels, Troye Sivan, Jessica Mauboy, Sia, Flume and Chet Faker all make the list of acts up for the award, the recipient of which is chosen by the Aussie voting public.

It's a simple process; just head to Channel [V]'s website on any device and vote for your favourite artist. It's something of a knock-out tournament — the ten artists with the least votes will be culled from the pack week to week, until the final fifty comes down to the last remaining act. 

There's extra incentive to vote (and plenty of times, too) — with each engagement, you're given a shot at $10,000 in cash, which you'll have better odds of winning the more you vote before submissions close at 11am on Saturday, November 29.

Nominations for the fiftieth act to make the list will close on Friday, September 26; the winner of that placement will be revealed on Channel [V] at 10.30am on Saturday, September 27. Consequent "countdown" hallmarks come on Sunday, October 19, at 4pm (Top 25 reveal); Sunday, November 9, at 4pm (Top 10 reveal); and Saturday, November 15, at 10.30am, for the live announcement of the top three finalists for the prize.

The grand winner of it all will be revealed at the same time as the lucky voter who snares the cash prize on The Riff: Live on Saturday, December 6, at 10.30am.
