Let us share our beautiful memories with you

BIGSOUND Live, done for another year. The Music's team awakes on Friday morning with a few beautiful memories...

Steve Bell

1. The Music & Dew Process official after-party at the Elephant. The grog was flowing freely and to say that there was a lot of love in the room probably isn't doing the soirée justice.

2. Local rock dogs HITS showing off and hammering heads at New Globe Theatre to a cool crowd

Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter

3. Kiwi singer-songwriter Marlon Williams popping into our office to play a couple of tracks for the website and totally stopping the place with his amazing voice and cool tunes

4. The Bennies trying so hard to facilitate crazy party that it's impossible not to love their attitude and good time priorities

5. Maybe it's just that I went to a lot of the rock stuff by choice but it seems that guitars are back in style again. They ain't as cool as hipster beards but if there is to be a rock resistance that's probably a cool thing

5a. After overcoming the sadness that BIGSOUND 2014 is drawing to a close it's already cool to contemplate what next year's conference might bring

5b. Brisbane fucking rules hard

Leigh Treweek

Top 5 From The Door Of The BIGSOUND After Party

Create/Control and The Music once again hosted the official BIGSOUND after party last night (even though some may not remember it today, they feel it) and our intrepid Director Of Vibe Leigh Treweek was manning the door.

Here’s his five highlights:

1. “No.” “No.” “No.” “No.”

2. “Leigh Treweek said to come to the front of the line.”
“I am Leigh Treweek.”

3. Chris O’Brien: “I’m not waiting in this fucking line, just let me through.”

4. “I’m in the band.”
“Where did the band play?”
“Um, I dunno that one over…”
“What’s the band’s name?”
“I’m definitely in it.”

5. That time Leigh Treweek refused Shock Records entry by accident. Worked it out pretty quick, eventually everyone got in and I’m very, very sorry Georgina.

Mitch Knox

1. The Adventures Of Danny and St Jerome

The interview with longtime friends and Laneway co-founders Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio was consistently enlightening, often hilarious and occasionally sweet, peeling back the veil on the world of festival promotion and working with your good mate. Couldn't look away.

2. Experiencing The Church

I might be committing music journo heresy here, but last night was the first time I'd seen the church in the flesh despite having done this for years now - chalk it up to a generational/cultural disconnect - and I was blown away by their fire and energy, as vibrant as ever (it seems) more than thirty years in to their career. Arguably more importantly, I finally "got it" and see what so many previous-gen pensmith peers love them so hard.

3. Woolly Mammoth's Star Wars opening-scrawl stairs
I don't have to justify this entry, do I? They're Star Wars stairs. At a music venue. That's awesome.

4. The Music after-party at The Elephant
I just like being in the same room as most of my friends and contemporaries, OK? It's nothing to do with free booze. Nothing to do with it. All about the people that I think I loosely recall seeing. I definitely remember booze.

5. Bed
Look, I loved every second of today's conference and tonight's showcases, but no experience could possibly match the feeling of the pillow after more than 12 hours of coverage, even if I only get to enjoy it for a couple of hours.

Scott Fitzsimons

1. Portable Phone Chargers

Undoubtedly the performance of BIGSOUND. For the first time ever phones lasted until the wee hours of the morning.

2. Marlon Williams

We get a few cool people through theMusic.com.au’s office, but New Zealand’s Marlon Williams probably trumped them all when he swung by to play a couple of tracks for us in the early evening.

3. Party

It took about three hours to do one lap of the official after party (presented by theMusic) – there was a legend around every corner. Just wished I’d taken more notes.

4. Good Seeds

Can’t wait to hear Jess Ribiero’s new album after her Black Bear Lodge showcase, the new songs are sounding incredibly captivating. Having the Mick Harvey in your band doesn’t hurt either.

5. Zombies Of The Valley

Daniel Cribb

1. The dude who couldn't handle his party and threw up in The Bennies' mosh.

2. Some punters or a band had a food fight at New Globe Theatre band room. Management were not impressed.

3. The fire alarm going off at The Elephant after party and the music continuing to play. People danced, two fire engines rocked up, firemen came in. Not too sure what happened.

4. The Music after party, of course.

5.  I'll let you know when and if I remember the rest. What I do know is I'll be back next year.
