'Tis a good day to be a U2 fan... and iTunes customer

More U2 More U2

Rock veterans U2 surprised us all overnight, releasing their first album in five years at the unveiling of Apple's latest range of smartphones.

Songs Of Innocence was released as a gift to iTunes store customers across the globe, with over half a billion copies distributed already, making it the largest album release in history. So U2 fans that have an active iTunes account, are 13 years and older and live in one of the 119 countries that feature the online music store giant can now access the 11-track record.

For the next five weeks, anyone who doesn't have an iTunes store account can also sign up and still receive the LP as a gift, so what are you waiting for?

The album, U2's 13th and their "most personal" yet according to Bono , will be available physically next month.
