An album by Australian music legend Paul Kelly has been removed from the Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards nominations because its release date failed to fall within the eligibility deadline.

The Merri Soul Sessions is a series of four 7” double-A-side vinyl singles, featuring the likes of Dan Sultan and Clairy Browne, that is being released over a six-month period. While the first part of the collection — Keep On Coming Back For More, feat. Clairy Browne and What You Want, feat. Vika Bull — has been released, it did not fall in line with the awards' deadline, resulting in the decision to remove it from the Best Independent Blues And Roots Album noms.

The full version of The Merri Soul Sessions is out next February.
