Daniel Lee Kendall Announces East-Coast 'Funeral' Tour

The folk troubadour hits four venues this November and December, proudly presented by The Music

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Daniel Lee Kendall has announced a celebratory four-date run of shows to support his brand new debut album, Daniel Lee Kendall Is Dead, with the fittingly named Funeral Tour this November and December.

Kicking off at Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge on Thursday, November 13, the sojourn — proudly presented by The Music — takes Kendall and yet-to-be-announced special guests through Melbourne’s Shebeen Bandroom on Friday, November 14; Loo Loo’s Warehouse, in Central Coast NSW, on Saturday, November 29; and Sydney’s Brighton Up Bar on Friday, December 5.

Before that all gets under way, as an early present, DLK will hit Loo Loo's for a free matinee launch show this Saturday, September 13.

It’s been a while since Kendall has made such a run of the east coast, where he has previously rubbed shoulders with performance mates Passenger, Old Man River, Hungry Kids Of Hungary and several others, but that doesn’t mean DLK is in anything less than the most focused of forms, with the imminent release of Daniel Lee Kendall Is Dead and success of recent single Under A Spell driving the troubadour to deliver the goods when he hits the road late next month.

"It’s kind of weird; these songs are from a former life, so playing them live will almost feel like I’m doing a covers gig,” Kendall said of the jaunt in a statement, “though that will mean I can take the weight off it a bit and probably enjoy the whole process a lot more.

“I’ve never done my own tour before, so that’s also an odd little paradox: that my first tour is also my “Funeral Tour”. I’ll have a really good fun band with me, which I’m stoked about, so I think it’s going to be quite enjoyable.”

Daniel Lee Kendall Is Dead hits physical and digital stores this Friday, September 12, via Create/Control — catch him the same day on triple j's weekly Like A Version segment, where he'll perform an original as well as lending his distinct tones to a yet-to-be-revealed cover.
