Both studio full-lengths will be yours to own from late September
The iconic, mononymous Prince has once again demonstrated why he has remained a force to be reckoned with throughout multiple decades with the announcement that he’ll be releasing two new studio full-lengths via Warner Bros Records late next month.
With a scheduled UK release date of Monday, September 29, we’re likely to see an Australian shelf date on the one of the Fridays either side of that for the dual drop of Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum, the latter of which is being put out under Prince’s full-band moniker, 3rdeyegirl.
It’s already been a massive year for Prince, entailing sell-out international tours, continuing wide acclaim for his live performances, a spot as curator of the New Orleans-based Essence Festival, and appearing as an impossibly awesome advice guru on the Zooey Deschanel-starring sitcom New Girl, leading to the release of a collaborative track, Fallinlove2nite.

The albums are Prince’s first on original label Warner Bros Records in several years, marking a homecoming built on their early relationship through seminal ‘80s full-lengths such as Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain and Sign ‘O’ The Times. Come September, Art Official Age – described as a “classic” Prince solo record – and Plectrumelectrum will no doubt make more than worthy additions to his diverse and expansive catalogue.
