The protest series will take over 44 towns and cities around the country at the end of this month

The third batch of March Australia rallies happen at the end of this month, and the impending event in Sydney stands to be something of a literal coup, with The Jezabels slated to perform for the masses on August 31.

The rallies will be held in more than 44 cities and towns across the country, and are designed to protest what organisers have called the “questionable decisions” and “terrible impact” of the nation’s present federal government.

Eight-time ARIA nominees The Jezabels will take to the rally’s new home of Hyde Park in front of Sydney demonstrators after it all kicks off at 1pm, to play a special acoustic set to help stoke the flames of activism among the gathered crowd, whose objective has also gained support from Lanie Lane, Abbe May and Isabella Manfredi of The Preatures.

“Political apathy is not cool,” May said in her endorsement. “If you aren’t happy with this government’s policies, stand up and march for your rights and for the rights of those who aren’t able to speak up for themselves.”

“I support humans and country, not the Abbott government, who continuously betray and undermine its citizens and environment in favour of economic gains and corporate approval,” recently returned troubadour Lane offered, while Manfredi added: “The budget has failed. March in August against austerity measures and the zillion other things this government sucks at.”

The March In August will focus on expressing concern over education, public services, environmental issues, human rights, the economy, media-based political bias and several other issues, all of which will be addressed by a group of special guest speakers, who will be revealed in the very near future.

For now, though, the lowdown is this – the rally has moved to Hyde Park from previous location Belmore Park, it goes down on Sunday, August 31, in Sydney, and will head along Market, George and Park streets before returning to its origin point.
