Here's the lowdown on some of the bigger must-sees gracing the festival's stages in 2015:

Soundgarden

Somewhat filling the void left by the absence of Big Day Out next year, Soundgarden’s inclusion on the list will be a warm welcome for alt-indie rock lovers. Disbanding in late ‘90s, the Seattle-based rockers reformed in 2010, and released a new record in 2012. You’d most likely know them from their classic ‘90s hits that sufficiently sum up the decade.

Judas Priest

You’d expect no less from Soundwave. Every year the festival delivers iconic metal, and they don’t come any more influential than Judas Priest. Another act that went on a brief hiatus in the ‘90s, the English rockers have been pumping out music consistently since they formed in ’69, with their latest record, Redeemer Of Souls, dropping in the US and UK in July. Prepare to sing your heart out.

Faith No More

No strangers to the Soundwave stage, we saw San Fran alt-metal rockers Faith No More headline the main stage back in 2010. Although we haven’t seen a new album since the late ‘90s, the band has hinted at new material, so if it lines up, their return to Australia might deliver some new tunes.

Slash

Rock royalty and a man able to make a big impact with so few words. Before Pharrell Williams made excessive headwear fashionable, the Guns N Roses guitarist was rocking some serious top hat. Sweet riffs, pumping cowbell and classic rock melodies will no doubt be on offer come Soundwave 2015.

Marilyn Manson

Another Soundwave regular, Marilyn Manson needs no introduction. Since his last Soundwave appearance in 2012, he’s appeared on an episode of Eastbound & Down and has signed on for an appearance on Sons Of Anarchy. He always has had a flare for drama.

Gerard Way

My Chemical Romance may have called it quits, but frontman Gerard Way isn’t slowing down for a second. With his debut solo full-length, Hesitant Alien, due for release September 26, he brings his new project to Australia. We’re still waiting on the record’s first single, but no doubt it’ll follow suit and be just as catchy as past material he penned with MCR.
