Short shorts, streakers and one mean-looking politician
Clear skies emerged after a stormy morning at Marrickville’s Henson Park on Sunday as the third annual Sydney Reclink Community Cup took place.
A charity Australian Rules match between the Sydney Sailors (music media) and the Western Walers (musicians and wider industry), the Sailors came away with the win for the third straight year, kicking 9.14 68 to the Walers’ 7.4 46.
But despite cries of “three-peat” when the final siren blew shortly after a pitch invasion from both benches with two minutes to go, football and Reclink were the real winners. The crowd grew throughout the game as the weather fined and they were treated to short-shorts, streakers (both male and female), beers and some high intensity Australian Rules football.

Highlights included Federal Government member Anthony Albanese prowling the forward pocket and wing for the Walers, a brawl between the two team’s benches in the second half and Walers recruit Russel Fitzgibbon (of Fishing) trying to figure out how he fractured his hand at the after party at The Vic.
The Lindy Morrison Medal for Best Female On Ground went to Fox Sports' Melanie Dinjaski, while FBi Radio's Declan Byrne won Best Male On Ground.
