Dates, venues and rumoured speakers

One of the world’s leading electronic music conferences, EMC has dropped its 2014 dates and unveiled a new location, going down during ARIA week in Sydney’s Kings Cross and Darlinghurst entertainment precinct, 2-4 December.

Last year’s event attracted more than 10,000 punters from across the globe, and this year’s will build on previous daytime industry-focused activities that includes panels, talks, masterclasses and round-table discussion, by introducing night time showcase EDM Play, featuring events in collaboration with Australia’s leading electronic labels and collectives.

The third annual event will feature more than 1000 industry experts from around the world, going down at the EMC Keynote Hall (Eternity Playhouse Theatre) and EMC Hub (Kings Cross Hotel).

“Our vision for the next five years is to grow the event around this vibrant entertainment precinct to where the industry can connect, learn and network by day, and music fans can discover new talent at multiple live music venues by night,” EMC founder Neil Ackland said.

“A Key formula in all of their success is building the event around a localised entertainment precinct. When we looked at where in Sydney we could emulate this formula, there was really only one choice, Kings Cross.”

Sydney Morning Herald reports DJ Steve Aoki, Coachella's EDM stage booking agent Johnny Shockey, Flume manager’s Nathan McLean and Sony Music Australia EDM director Jon Hanlon have signed on as speakers, but this is yet to be confirmed by the conference.
