We'll start seeing new releases from this month!

Sony Music Entertainment Australia has announced that it has entered into a new label distribution partnership with Los Angeles-based record label Red Bull Records.

The deal will see Sony take under its wing the distribution rights for RBR’s esteemed roster of artists, including AWOLNATION, Beartooth, Blitz Kids, Five Knives, Heaven’s Basement, Itch, New Beat Fund and Twin Atlantic.

Red Bull Records shot out of energy-drink megalith Red Bull in 2007, founded by visionary entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz, and has since grown to boast headquarters in LA, New York City and London in its less-than-a-decade of operation.

“We’ve had an amazing relationship with RED North America since day one, so teaming up with Sony Music in Australia and New Zealand was a natural fit,” RBR managing director Greg Hammer said of the partnership in a statement. “In addition, the opportunity to work with the incomparable Denis Handlin and his talented team was a significant added plus.

“Red Bull Records has already had some great successes in the territory and with this partnership we are even more excited about our artists’ potential for the future.”

Handlin, the chairman and chief executive of Sony Music Australia & New Zealand (and president, Asia), added: “We are delighted to be working with Greg and his team in this exciting label partnership for Australia & New Zealand. We look forward to developing exciting and new artists together.”

The first two acts to enjoy the hospitality offered by their new Aussie hosts will be Itch and Twin Atlantic. Itch, the alter-ego of London performer Jonathan Fox, will drop his debut solo full-length, The Deep End, on October 17, while Glaswegian rockers Twin Atlantic are gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album, Great Divide, set to hit Aussie collections from August 15.

Stay tuned to find out which of Red Bull Records’ other A-list artists will be getting the Sony Music treatment in the near future!
