Next year's conference has its work seriously cut out for it already

Brisbane’s annual BIGSOUND conference has announced its second-round line-up for its BIGSOUND Live program, with the charge of more than 40 new acts being led by iconic veteran Aussie band the church, electro pioneers Seekae and West Australian prog-metal trailblazers Voyager.

In addition to the 80+ acts on the previously announced first line-up and roster of guest speakers (on which the church also appear), newly announced appearances at the three-day conference include Nicholas Albrook, The Funkoars, Pierce Brothers, Hayden James, the resurgent Art Of Sleeping, and Canadian outfit July Talk.

They’ll be joining the likes of Gold Fields, DMA’s, Holy Holy, Bad//Dreems, Client Liaison, Kingswood and Remi the remainder of the now 140-act strong line-up across 14 live venues throughout Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley precinct.

“It will be an honour and a privilege to host artists from France, Canada, New Zealand, the USA, and almost every state and territory of Australia in Fortitude Valley this September,” BIGSOUND executive programmer Nick O’Byrne said in a statement.

“It's no exaggeration to say that over two nights we'll be showcasing some of the most exciting rock, hip-hop, punk, metal, dance, pop, folk, roots and country music in the world. We reckon the quality of music and the incredible festival environment will firmly establish BIGSOUND as one of the most dynamic taste-making events in the international calendar.”

BIGSOUND 2014 will be held from September 10 to 12 around the Valley, taking in venues such as The Zoo, the newly opened Brightside, The Rev, Ric’s, Alhambra, Coniston Lane, Oh Hello!, Black Bear Lodge and the Press Club, as well as several further north of Brunswick St Mall, including the recently relaunched Underdog (ex-Step Inn).

BIGSOUND Live tickets are available now via Oztix; they’ll set you back $69+bf, and provide punters with wristband access to live shows across the event.
