Oh. Oh, jeez

More Britney Spears More Britney Spears

An original, unaltered vocal track for Britney Spears' 2013 single Alien, taken from her most recent LP Britney Jean, has leaked online.

Popping up on YouTube without explanation recently, the raw vocals have since been confirmed by producer William Orbit to indeed be courtesy of the '90s pop princess, with the acclaimed British musician taking to Facebook to defend Spears, claiming that rather than being simply an unedited (and consequently used) "take", the offending track was merely for warm-up purposes.

"Dearest Music Lovers, I have heard that Britney vocal link ... I'd like to affirm that ANY singer when first at the mic at the start of a long session can make a multitude of vocalisations in order to get warmed up," Orbit explained.

"Warming up is essential if you're a pro, as it is with a runner doing stretches, and it takes a while to do properly. I've heard all manner of sounds emitted during warmups. The point is that it is not supposed to be shared with millions of listeners."

"Whomever put this on the internet must have done so in a spirit of unkindness, but it can in no way detract from the fact that Britney is and always will be beyond Stellar!" he continued. "She is magnificent! And that's that."

That's fair enough, and Spears may very well be the peach of a person that Orbit says she is, but that doesn't completely excuse this standard of singing when you're being paid millions of dollars precisely because you're supposed to be a next-level entertainer:
