It will, as always, be a night to remember

The 14th annual Helpmann Awards will be hosted by veteran actor Jonathan Biggins and the members of yearly staple The Wharf Revue, the ceremony's organisers announced today.

Hitting Sydney's Capitol Theatre on Monday, August 18, this year's Helpmanns will take place among the vivid surrounds of the set for multi-Helpmann Award-winning musical The Lion King, and as always are the nation's foremost opportunity to showcase the best and brightest our performing-arts world has to offer.

Fittingly, for the location, the event will kick off with a boisterous rendition of triumphant Lion King intro piece Circle Of Life – a sort of reverse send-off for the acclaimed production, which packs up and heads to Brisbane in September and Melbourne next February.

In addition, expect to see performances from Cameron Mackintosh's lauded new take on Les Miserables, currently at Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre, as well as from Strictly Ballroom The Musical, a medley from The King And I – coming soon to Sydney's Lyric Theatre – featuring Lisa McCune and Jason Scott Lee.

This year's nominees will be announced at relevant events around Australia on Monday, July 14.

Nominees for the 2014 Helpmann Awards will be announced at nomination events around the country on Monday 14th July.

Tickets are available now; if you can't make it in the flesh, Foxtel's Arena has the broadcast rights, so keep eyes peeled for schedule details in the near future.
