He will join David Duchovny on the 13-part NBC series

Certified Game Of Thrones corpse Gethin Anthony -- who spent two seasons ill-fatedly priming himself for the Iron Throne as younger Baratheon sibling Renley -- has scored the central role in NBC's Aquarius, based on infamous cult leader Charles Manson.

In addition to Anthony's casting as the wild-eyed, wild-haired "family" man, the US network has also announced it has signed Bunheads' Emma Dumont to play Emma Karn, who crosses paths with (and is enraptured by) Manson, as well as casting Friday Night Lights star Grey Damon.

Damon joins the show to fill the role of new partner to David Duchovny's Detective Sam Hodiak, a veteran cop who is working hard to track down the budding criminal and rising megalomaniac messing up his neck of the woods.

According to a statement from NBC, “The twists and turns of a complicated undercover operation will lead Duchovny's character and his young partner to the brink of Manson's crimes that will eventually lead to the Tate-LaBianca murders in subsequent seasons.”

You'll note the use of language in that statement suggests NBC has enough faith in Aquarius to be looking beyond its first 13-episode season already -- and with four years between the first season's setting of 1967 and Manson's eventual incarceration in 1971, there should be more than enough material for the network to follow through on its vision.

And, hey, on the plus side, at least Anthony can go into this role knowing that it's pretty unlikely he'll have to die again. Sean Bean could learn a thing or two.

If you're not a Thrones fan, or you're just unsure whether Anthony has the chops to fill Crazy Chuck's shoes, here's a summary refresher for you:
