Time to make up for 2012

More DevilDriver More DevilDriver

Santa Barbara-based heavy metal icons DevilDriver have announced they will be storming Australian shores this September, with Tennessee-bred deathcore stalwarts Whitechapel coming along for the ride.

The powerhouses will play three shows while in the country, kicking off at Brisbane's Hi-Fi on Friday, September 5, before heading to the venue of the same name for a licensed all-ages stop in Sydney on September 6, and Melbourne's 170 Russell on September 7.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale from 9am local time on Friday, June 20. Brisbane and Sydney fans can score theirs via the Hi-Fi website; Melbourne punters have the option of Oztix or the venue.

Renowned for their extreme live antics, such as at Download festival 2007 – where they attempted to break the record for generating the world's largest circle pit – DevilDriver were forced to cancel their last planned tour of the country in 2012 when frontman Dez Fafara was diagnosed with a severe bout of pneumonia. All things being equal, though, Aussie fans should be right as rain for their fair serve of brutality this time around.

For their part, Whitechapel have recently dropped their fifth studio full-length, Our Endless War, and are currently about nine shows shy of completing their current North American tour alongside DevilDriver, Carnifex, Revocation, Rivers of Nihil, and Fit For An Autopsy, so they should be well and truly warmed up and ready to melt some Aussie faces by the time September rolls around.
