The iconic quartet will play a string of career-spanning shows in Australia and NZ in February/March

More Eagles More Eagles

Hot on the heels of Tuesday's Australian tour announcement from fellow global music icons Queen, US legends the Eagles have revealed that they, too, will be hitting Antipodean shores next year for a run of shows in Australia and New Zealand from February to March.

The History Of The Eagles tour will see the band play their first shows on Kiwi soil in 20 years (they were last in Australia in 2010), and includes arena dates in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, as well as outdoor shows in the Hunter Valley, Auckland and at Victoria's renowned Hanging Rock.

Featuring the most well-known of the Eagles line-ups – Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit – the shows will canvass their entire back catalogue over three hours, including some tracks that have never seen the light of a live show before.

Yes, that means that beloved compositions such as Desperado, Take It Easy, New Kid In Town, Lyin' Eyes, Take It To The Limit and – naturally – Hotel California will all be on the agenda when they arrive.

The History Of The Eagles world tour, which has been under way since mid-last year, was born out of the 2013 documentary History Of The Eagles – The Story Of An American Band, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alison Elwood, the incubation of which was an experience that rekindled the dormant fires in the Eagles' bellies to get back out on the road.

If you're interested, Universal Music Australia has the documentary available for sale.

The all-ages tour will kick off at Perth Arena on February 18 next year before hitting Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on February 22, Hanging Rock on February 28, two Sydney shows – March 2 at the Qantas Credit Union Arena, and March 4 at Allphones – a gig at Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley on March 7, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 10, and finishes up in Auckland at Mt Smart Stadium on March 14.

There are a couple of different pre-sales being offered for these shows, with American Express Card Members getting the first look-in from 2pm on Tuesday, May 27, to 5pm on Saturday, May 31.

Frontier Members will have their go from 1pm (varies dependent on show, AEST) on Wednesday, June 4, for 24 hours or until allocation limits are reached.

Tickets go on sale for the general public from 10am local time on Tuesday, June 10.

All shows are being handled via Ticketek, with the exception of the Hanging Rock, Hunter Valley and Auckland shows, for which tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
