Aussie continue their run of success

More The Preatures More The Preatures

The history of success for Australian artists in the International Song Competition has continued this year, with The Preatures, country frontman Adam Eckersley and Tony King winning categories in this year's awards.

Australian women had a strong presence when the finalists were released in March, and the likes of Bertie Blackman, Sophie Hanlon, Missy Higgins and Butterfly Boucher all appear as winners this year. Australia made a clean-sweep of the Rock category, with The Preatures coming home ahead of Apes and Calling All Cars while video clips for Clubfeet and Bertie Blackman came second and third respectively behind New Zealand singer Kimbra's Come Into My Head. Kimbra also won the performance category ahead of Sophie Hanlon.

Winners in each category receive a prize pack that include gear, directory subscriptions and administration services, while second and third places receive packages of lesser value.

The $25,000 grand prize went to Japanese jazz trumpeter Shunzo Ohno. The main prize has previously been won by, Kasey Chambers (2010), Kate Miller-Heidke and Keir Nuttall (2008) as well as New Zealanders Kimbra (2011), Gin Wigmore (2004) and Moana Maniapoto (2003).
