Twelve Foot Ninja Named Best New Talent At Golden Gods Awards

Having already endeared themselves to Americans with their Imperial System-friendly name, Australian metal luminaries Twelve Foot Ninja can now officially call themselves the year's best new talent – or at least by the standards of the Revolver Golden Gods Awards.

Wednesday night's win at the Golden Gods – billed as the US' only hard rock and heavy metal awards show – comes on the eve of the band's inaugural headlining tour of the States, and must feel especially sweet knowing that their victorious emergence was decided not by a panel of industry suits but by the fans.

Twelve Foot Ninja bested the likes of Deafheaven, Scar The Martyr, ††† (Crosses), Heaven's Basement and Issues to claim the award.

Their US tour, which continues their support for raucous debut full-length Silent Machine (2012), only released there in October last year. So far, it's been doing wonders for the boys' international renown, with album opener Coming For You proving particularly popular with Stateside listeners, and the band garnering support from the like of Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy and Megadeth's Chris Broderick.

After a highlight-heavy 2013, which saw them embark on their first Australian headline tour – and sell out shows in every capital city – the first quarter of 2014 has already been very kind to the six-year-old quintet, and it's safe to assume things will only pick up further from here. This could turn out to be the Year of the (Giant) Ninja yet.
