FBi Click coming in June

The influential and widely respected General Manager of Sydney's community radio station FBi Radio is stepping down from the position to launch a new digital radio venture under the station's brand.

Dan Zilber, who is not only credited with shaping the development of the station during the last decade but also its community interaction and hugely successful foray into festivals with their tenth anniversary event, will be at the helm of electronic and dance music-focused FBi Click when it launches in June this year.

Today FBi Radio's General Managing Director Clare Holland told theMusic.com.au that Click will be part of the FBi umbrella while Zilber's current role will be absorbed by the station's Music Director Stephen Goodhew, amongst others.

“I've been the luckiest guy in the Australian music industry every day for more than ten years,” Zilber, also a regular on the national music conference circuit, said today.

“It's been such an honour to work with the amazing staff and volunteers that the station attracts and a privilege to support the musicians and broader industry who contribute so much to the enjoyment of our lives. I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved over the past decade and will miss the people and the station immensely.”

The station's President Cass Wilkinson added, “11 years ago we took a risk and asked a 24 year old to tell us what the future of Sydney would sound like. A decade on, Dan Zilber's influence has driven Australian music's growing interest in our own backyard… He's a true visionary and it's for this reason that we're thrilled that we've been able to set his sights on FBi's future one more time.”

Currently FBi's digital offering is a simulcast of the analogue 94.5FM frequency, but Click will look to generate new content for the digital and online offering with a electronic-music focus.

“We've always been committed to electronic and dance music, and the demand from our audience continues to grow,” said Zilber. “We've pulled together some of the best Sydney crews, we're putting them at the helm and I'm excited to see the results.”
