Lorde's upcoming Australian tour has been postponed, with tour dates scheduled to kick off this Thursday 24 April cancelled due to doctor's orders.

New Zealand star Ella Yelich-O'Connor will return to her homeland to recuperate while new dates are being organised. She has been the story of the last 12 months after her album Pure Heroine exploded all over the world, soaring to #1 in America and earning her Grammy Awards.

“It breaks my heart to have to postpone these shows as the band and I absolutely love playing to Australian crowds, and it was not a decision we made lightly,” Yelich-O'Connor said today.

“I know I need to focus on getting better in order to perform at my best. We'll be with you as soon as we can, Aussies.”

Promoters Frontier Touring said that they are working to secure new dates “as soon as possible” and refunds will be available if the dates are not suitable.

Those refunds are available through Ticketmaster for the two Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane dates, and through Ticketek for the Adelaide, two Sydney and Newcastle shows.
