Black Lips Hope For December Return To Australia

In a recent interview with theMusic.com.au, Black Lips bassist Jared Swilley revealed that a return to Australia was inevitable, and soon.

The US garage rock'n'rollers have just released their Underneath The Rainbow album, produced by The Black Keys' Pat Carney, and are set to come our direction by year's end.

“Of course. The sooner the better," Swilley told theMusic's Andrew Mast. "There's talk about a Japan tour. I heard, like, December.”

The band are big fans of the Australian festival season, however there is no official word yet of them being linked to any local festivals around the Xmas/NYE period.

Black Lips' guitarist Ian Saint Pé Brown is super keen to return as on his last visit he missed out on meeting one of his musical heroes Jim Keays: “Masters Apprentices [Jim Keays fronted the Adelaide psych rock outfit from 1965] is one of my favourite Australian bands." But although a festival promoter tried to organise a hook-up, due to Keays' health issues a meeting did not take place. Saint Pé Brown remains hopeful.

Familiar with Australian rock music history, Black Lips members also cited Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control, UV Race, The Missing Links and Beasts Of Bourbon.
