Hobart's Dark Mofo Announces 2014 Line Up

Winter in Tasmania has become an even m ore alluring prospect these past couple of years thanks to the annual Dark Mofo festival, which brings together amazing music from all around the world, as well as some incredible thought provoking art, film, theatre and even a nude swim.

This year's bill is another forward-thinking collection of diverse artforms and activities that will be of great interest to anyone looking at expanding their mind through art. A few of the musical highlights are below:

Some seriously heavy, dark and scary music will be happening thanks to SUNN O))), Earth and Veil of Darkness who will be playing a ridiculous triple bill that'll make your bones shake.

David Lynch presents Chrysta Bell in Australia again for the Hobart event, following on from the well-received Perth Festival appearance. 

Punk rock party bros The Bronx make another trip to Australia, this time playing Dark Mofo with Melbourne's High Tension in tow.

Underground favourites Total Control, Kirin J Callinan and HTRK are the first names announced for the Afterlife event, which will no doubt feature plenty more awesome underground talent. 

Three of Australia's finest folk-rock acts, The Gin Club, Jeff Lang and Mick Thomas will be teaming up for a show that will tick so many boxes for fans of Australian storytelling songs it's just not funny. Much like The Gin Club's jokes!

If you're a kid, at kid at heart, or someone who really enjoys the frenzied madness of Yo Gabba Gabba! then you'll be psyched to hear that they are bringing their live show to the dark, forboding event in what is bound to be a very strange, very cool event for all ages. 

The event happens all around Hobart from Thursday 12 June to Sunday 22, making use of plenty of typical and very atypical spaces around the city.
