SXSW Car Crash Driver Facing 20 New Charges

Rashad Charjuan Owens has already been charged with capital murder

The main suspect in the SXSW car crash tragedy has been charged with a further 20 offences related to the incident.

Rashad Charjuan Owens, the alleged driver of the car that crashed into a crowd of punters outside venue The Mohawk on Thursday 13 March, has been charged with further aggravated assault offences related directly to individual victims killed of injured in the crash, reports the Austin American-Statesman. Owens, 21, had already been charged with capital murder days after the incident. Four deaths have been confirmed from the crash.

Owens is alleged to have been driving under the influence, with his blood alcohol limit said at .114, above the legal limit according to police. His bail, originally at $3 million, has had an extra $100,000 added for each of these new charges.
