Nova & The Experience set to challenge historic room

Newcastle-raised, Sydney-based indie pop outfit Nova & The Experience have won themselves a two-month residency at Sydney's Marble Bar – which they'll be paid $10,000 for.

The four-piece landed the gig after winning last night's Discovered band competition, an initiative of venue owners The Hilton. One of five acts performing for the final, the decision was split between pubic voting and a panel of industry representatives including singer-songwriter Mahalia Barnes, music marketing specialist Chris Moss, Rolling Stone editor Rod Yates and theMusic.com.au's Scott Fitzsimons.

The only band to play original songs on the night, they are likely to challenge the historic venue's penchant for 'function bands' during their two month stint.

They will kick off at Marble Bar from next Wednesday.
