Mitch Byatt takes over from Tim Higgins

Sydney community radio station 2Ser 107.3 has announced a new Breakfast host today, with Mitch Byatt to replace Bachelor Pad bassist Tim Higgins.

Byatt takes up the role after presenting the frequency's Drive program for five years.

“Tim and the 2Ser breakfast team have created a great, truly alternative breakfast show in Sydney,” he said today. “I've got big, dulcet-sounding shoes to fill – but I'm very much looking forward to the challenge.”

The heavily student-driven station offers a mix of news and music to the Sydney community radio landscape and will rotate newer presenters through the Breakfast seat before Byatt takes up the role full time after Easter.

“Breakfast is a tough gig, but Tim has made a consistently great show,” Managing Director Melanie Withnall said. “We'll miss him and his dad's jokes!”

While stepping down from his on-air role for a period, Higgins will continue to work with the station behind the scenes.

“I've had a great time, but it's time for me to move onto another challenge and have a sleep in,” he said. “It was such an amazing opportunity to launch the show, I'm so stoked to know that my good mate Mitch Byatt will be taking the Breakfast show forward.”
