The label that signed acts like The Rolling Stones and Tom Jones pick up the Brisbane act.
Brisbane pop ensemble Sheppard continue their meteoric rise through the ranks of the music industry with a pretty massive deal announced exclusively on theMusic.com.au this afternoon.
We can reveal that the young sextet have signed a deal with the legendary Decca Records, a label that has been in existence since 1929, becoming the first ever Australian act to do so. Decca's history is well-documented; it was the original home of acts like The Rolling Stones and Tom Jones and famously turned down The Beatles in the early-1960s.
The deal will see them represented by Decca, which is backed by Universal Music, around the world except for their home territory of Australia where the band will remain with Empire Of Song/Chugg Music for their releases.
The band's frontman George Sheppard acknowledges the success he and his band have experienced over the past year, but says that they are only just beginning their charge.

“The sense of history we feel being the first Australian band with a label like Decca with such a long and important tradition is really amazing,” said vocalist George Sheppard, “The way we've been embraced by the Australian public over the last year has been fantastic and it feels that while this news is a culmination of many years of hard work, it really is the start for us.”
The band's Let Me Down Easy single from last year was a smash hit, almost reaching double-platinum sales and being flogged on radio across the country.
The band hit the United States to plug their new single Geronimo next week. The single was released in Australia today.
