More The Rolling Stones More The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones' Australian tour is in doubt after the news of Mick Jagger's girlfriend L'WrenScott's death sent shockwaves through the touring party.

The band arrived in Australia on Monday and are currently in Perth ahead of their planned first date – due to take place tomorrow (Wednesday 19 March).

It has now been confirmed that the first show on the tour will not be going ahead as planned. Adelaide Oval's CEO has said they are yet to confirm whether their show on Saturday will also be cancelled.

Details in live updates below.

A press conference was reportedly to be held outside the band's hotel – the Hyatt – in Perth at 9am local time, 12pm AEDT, but that has not eventuated.

Updates from the (phantom) press conference below: refresh for updates.

ROLLING STONE TOUR UPDATES: LIVE

12.30pm (AEDT): Still waiting for a start. Media gathered around.

Unconfirmed reports that the band have left the hotel, but no official word yet.

It looks likely that the Perth date (at least) will be impacted, but – again – no official word yet.

12.45pm: More media rolling up, despite no action. Is this going to happen?

Calls to Frontier are not being returned at the moment.

12.54pm: The Ticketek site has crashed, presumably under the weight of people wondering whether they'll need to organise refunds.

1pm: Seems unlikely that press conference will happen. Mick Jagger reportedly already on a plane according to Tweet from Channel 9 reported Rhett Burnie. Unconfirmed at this stage.

1.07pm: Hotel staff at the front of the hotel are asking media to leave. A van looks ready to take people away from the hotel.

1:18pm: As @itsglenng points out on Twitter, Ticketek back up. Ticketmaster still has Hanging Rock for sale.

1.40pm: Representatives for the Adelaide Oval are currently in meetings and have not returned theMusic.com.au's calls. A representative from AEG Ogden, the venue managers of Perth Arena and Allphones Arena, told theMusic that they were unable to comment on the matter and that it will have to come from the promoter.

While Frontier Touring, part of the Mushroom Group, are the local promoters the tour is being backed by AEG Live, who toured the band through the US, while iEC Entertainment are driving the Adelaide Oval show. The latter doubles as the official opening of the stadium.

1.50pm: Media at the Hyatt still waiting around for something to happen. Van is here, waiting, still.

3pm: Mainstream media still surrounding the Hyatt, at front and back entrances. It's possible that discussions (including potential travel plans) are being held between Australia and the USA, where it is getting late at the moment.

MAJOR UPDATE: PERTH SHOW NOT GOING AHEAD AS PLANNED

5.30pm: Frontier Touring have finally made a statement, confirming that the Perth show will not be going ahead.

Punters have been asked to "hold onto their tickets until a further update is available", with Frontier stressing “Please note no further comment is available at this time.”

The statement reads, “Frontier Touring and Concerts West regret to announce that The Rolling Stones concert in Perth will not be going ahead as scheduled for Wednesday 19 March 2014… Ticket holders can check frontiertouring.com, twitter.com/frontiertouring or this Facebook page for updates.”

ADELAIDE OVAL: 'WE HAVEN'T MADE A DECISION YET'

6.30pm: Adelaide Oval, where the band are due to play on Saturday as part of the official ending, have now issued a statement to theMusic.com.au.

Adelaide Oval SMA CEO Andrew Daniels says, “We have been informed by promoters Frontier Touring that the Rolling Stones concert in Perth will not be going ahead as scheduled following the extremely sad events overnight in New York.

“As yet, there is still no official decision about Saturday's concert at the Adelaide Oval. We continue to liaise with the promoters and will provide an update when more information becomes available.

“We – like all fans – are deeply sorry for Mick Jagger and the family and friends of L'Wren Scott and offer our heartfelt condolences.”

Media waiting outside the Hyatt.

While we're waiting this is Stones mega-fan Jeff Gussin, 49, from Philadelphia. He's at the conference. Been following band since '78 and worked load in-load out '94, '95, '97, '98, '99 for them. He tells theMusic.com.au he's spent about $10,000 on following the tour around Australia. Followed the band around the US on last tour and went to all shows. “Like the Stones' song Pretty Beat Up, I'm pretty beat up.”
