Newsted find a new sidewaves partner after being booted off Megadeth's shows

More Newsted More Newsted

Thrash metal icons Testament have announced they'll be playing two Soundwave Festival sideshows with former Metallica member Jason Newsted's band Newsted, who were this week kicked off the Megadeth sidewaves.

It was revealed that at the request of Megadeth, which another fellow ex-Metallica member Dave Mustaine is a part of, requested that Newsted be removed from their two sideshows, with Whitechapel named as the replacement.

It didn't take too long for a different set of Newsted sidewaves to be announced though and they are teaming up with one of the pioneering bands of the thrash metal scene of the eighties. Testament, who recently confirmed that bassist Greg Christian would be leaving the band and be replaced by previous member Steve Di Giorgio, have been around for just over thirty years so there is a whole lot of hardened metal experience locked in for these two dates.

The bands will perform at Melbourne's Gershwin Room at the Espy and Sydney's Oxford Art Factory during their Soundwave visit. Tickets go on sale Tuesday 11 February at 9am. Check out theGuide for all the details.
