Diplo to appear during Snoop's set?

Major Lazer's Diplo hopes to join Snoop Dogg on stage at Big Day Out this year after the two collaborated on Snoop's Reincarnated album.

For the infamous reggae release, recorded under the rappers' 'Snoop Lion' guise, both Diplo and Major Lazer are listed as producers on the record. The two will be in Australia for the Big Day Out, playing after one another on the Red stage, and a collaborative element is certainly on the cards.

Speaking to The Music's Cyclone, Dilpo – real name Wesley Pentz – said that he would “love to” collaborate on a live performance.

“I've gotta give him a text and see what he wants to do,” he added.

Diplo also described Snoop's Reincarnation was a 'legacy' album after contemplating the impact of his back catalogue, where he made a career of having a 'pimp' image.

“He met Paul McCartney, he met Obama, he met all these guys, and they were like, 'Yo, we're big fans, we love what you do',” Diplo told The Music. “He was like, 'Do they even know what I really do?'”

This isn't the first time he's played Big Day Out either, his first Australian tour was through the festival in 2006 when he DJed with MIA.

“I remember that Iggy & The Stooges headlined and that was awesome – I was a huge fan,” he said.

And despite his subsequent fall out with MIA, he added, “You guys loved MIA, man – she was just like the new voice that really represented what you guys were feeling in Australia at the time.”
