The Big Bang Theory tops the night
The ratings for last night's ARIA Awards were up on last year's figures but it was beaten by a The Big Bang Theory repeat on the night.
Aired on Channel Nine digital channel Network Go!, the music industry awards – held at Sydney's The Star – brought in 337,000 viewers, while the red carpet broadcast managed 248,000. The top show on the digital channels was also on Go!, with The Big Bang Theory bringing in 351,000.
Last year 304,000 people tuned in when the awards won the night for the digital channels, an encouraging start to life outside of the primary free-to-air frequencies. It is understood that ARIA were aiming for 350,000 viewers this year.
Starting at 7.30pm, with the awards proper at 8pm, in the same timeslot Channel Nine's 60 Minutes attracted 1,196,000 viewers, Channel Ten's The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader 437,000 and ABC's The Outlaw Michael Howe 428,000.
