Matthew Cotye becomes publisher of iconic masthead

The Australian edition of Rolling Stone magazine has confirmed sweeping changes today, with Editor In Chief Matthew Coyte becoming the publisher of the local edition.

Rumours regarding the future of the magazine had swirled earlier this week amid staffing discussions but New York-based Rolling Stone founder and Editor Jann S. Wenner said that Australian edition will continue “uninterrupted” under the guidance of Coyte's new company Paper Riot Pty Ltd.

Today Coyte told theMusic.com.au that “entire staff is coming along for the ride” and that Amy Gates will be reinstated as Advertising, Sponsorship and Event Manager.

The deal has the blessing of previous publisher Bauer Media and Paper Riot will be using their publishing services moving forward. They are no longer working in the Bauer offices.
