We visit his hotel room to hear him croon.

Spike Slawson of Me First & The Gimme Gimmes (and formerly of Swingin' Utters) lives and breathes popular music. When he's not jamming out on punk rock versions of classic tunes with his bros in said band, he's jamming out on his ukulele in San Fran to much the same kind of material as Uke-Hunt.

When Me First… were in Australia recently, Slawson invited us up to his hotel room in Brisbane where he proceeded to serenade us with a couple of classic songs and today we're pleased to bring you the footage.

Firstly he played the country classic Green, Green Grass Of Home – popularised in this country by Tom Jones but the Porter Wagoner version released a year or so earlier, which Slawson references, is also highly regarded. The song has been covered by thousands of country artists over the years; here's what it sounds like when this punk rocker tackles it.

He then took us into Bowie territory, giving us a rendition of The Man Who Sold The World from the 1970 album of the same name.

Beautiful stuff.
