His snap of Xavier Rudd is up for a Moran Prize

Music photographer Kane Hibberd has been named as one of the finalists for a Moran Prize, which recognises excellence in portrait painting and photography.

The snapper is up for the 2013 Photographic Prize for his photo of roots musician Xavier Rudd. The image, titled Take Me Home, Xavier featured as part of recent issue of The Music, in which Rudd was the cover story. If he wins, Hibberd will walk away with $50,000 in cash.

The photographer is also preparing himself to get a whole lot of stuff thrown his way - literally. Hibberd has organised his own Dare To Make A Difference event where people that donate to his cause, will get the chance to throw anything and everything from soggy food to syrups and other sticky substances at him. Proceeds go towards supporting St Vincent's Hospital.
