More Stonefield More Stonefield

With their debut, self-titled record set for its release this Friday 11 October, sister rockers Stonefield have shared a playlist of their favourite songs and the tunes that inspired their music.

Combining the legendary rock of Fleetwood Mac, the energy of indie outfit Arctic Monkeys and the beautifully tragic sounds of Jeff Buckley, to name a few, the four Findlay sisters share their memories and the music that has inspired their careers - see the sisters explain their choices below the playlist.

Amy

Lay Down (Candles In The Rain) - Melanie
"This is one of my top songs that made me fall in love with gospel choirs! I love the power that the sound carries and think it works so well with the tone of her voice. Hopefully it has worked just as well on our songs!"
City Port - T-Rex
"We were listening to this song a lot in the car on the way to the studio. I love T-Rex and the way they have so much groove and personality."

Sarah

Gypsy - Fleetwood Mac
"I think this would have to be my favourite Fleetwood Mac song. It's so easy to listen to and I always find myself singing along."
Eternal Life - Jeff Buckley
"This is a song that I just recently started listening to. I love when it kicks in with the heavy riff and from there on in it's just an all round awesome song."
God Is Dead? - Black Sabbath
"I love the riffage in this song. It's so saucy!"

Hannah

Son Of Orange County - Frank Zappa
"One of my favourite Zappa songs. It has so many great melodies and is one of those songs that keeps getting bigger and better as it goes along.  It's also pretty ace the way they go into the next song on the record."
Arabella - Arctic Monkeys
"This song is so effortlessly cool. Love the Sabbath vibes and hip hop esque drums."
Albatross - Fleetwood Mac
"I love how chilled out this song is. It's one of those simple songs that get you hooked in straight away."

Holly

Shiver - Coldplay
"This song just reminds me of when my sisters and I we're growing up and in summer we would have friends over and we would be outside playing and Mum and Dad would play this album. This is such a great song, brings back so many memories."
War Pigs - Black Sabbath
"The girls and I recently went to see Black Sabbath's concert, they opened with this song, it was epic. Love rockin' out to this one."
Walk On The Wild Side - Lou Reed
"This is another one I remember Mum and Dad playing while we we're growing up. It also reminds me of recording our album, Ian played this song on one of the last days of recording and pumped it through the Sing Sing speakers, it now just reminds me of that day…such a rad sax solo also!"
