With a lineup expected mid-December

The 2014 dates for Hunter Region festival The Gum Ball have been announced today, organisers set to to celebrate the festival's 10th anniversary on the evenings of Friday 11 and Saturday 12 April.

Moving the event slightly earlier in the month compared to the ANZAC weekend earlier date this year, The Gum Ball will take place during the first week of the April school holidays at the usual Dashville setting – a choice that aims to appeal to families with free time just before Easter.

Festival organiser Matt Johnston says it's been a tough but rewarding decade-long journey for The Gum Ball, but he believes the festival still appeals due to its family-friendly attitude.

“It's been a rollercoaster of passion, fatigue, joy and hindsight. In the end though, the reason we keep putting The Gum Ball on is for the people that come to the festival and make it what it is,” he said.

“People have become 'festival experts'- they go to so many events they begin to realise what they want in their down time. In our experience people are seeking comfort, serenity and uncomplicated set ups to help them enjoy good music making for good times”.

A lineup announcement can be expected in mid-September but promoters hint it will be a celebration of The Gum Ball's 10 year history.

Previous acts to hit the Hunter Valley festival's stage include Turin Brakes, Mia Dyson, Regurgitator, Tumbleweed and Matt McHugh from The Beautiful Girls, to name a few.

The Gum Ball will take place at the same Dashville setting, Lower Belford.
