She's absolutely killing it right now after the release of another brilliant solo record. It's louder than the last one but no less beautiful
If you don't know Cass McCombs then you have a fair bit of catching up to do before Laneway, but it's worth it. He's released seven records over the past ten years and he has a real knack for writing classic sounding pop songs. Folky indie rock at its best, pretty much.
They are the best new band of the year in many peoples' eyes. We knew this Scottish synth pop buzz band were coming but that doesn't make us any less excited.
He is one of the best rappers on the scene at present and has blown up so much bigger since his last visit to Australia. A big part of a very, very tasty hip hop bill on offer in 2014.
They have one of the best albums of this year, according to us and anyone else who knows their shit. One of the great new Australian bands.
Sure, there's a great story behind his initial success, being the missing member of Odd Future and all, but that means dick when you listen to his debut LP Doris. This kid is one of the greatest modern rappers we've ever heard and the chance to see him at Laneway is ridiculously exciting.
Kieran Hebden thrilled fans with the announcement that he would release his new album Beautiful Rewind merely a year after his last one Pink and now he's thrilled Aussie fans by announcing he will be back at Laneway in 2014.
His side dates while here with his group The xx were instant sell outs, so we imagine that Jamie xx will be performing in a pretty key position on this year's massive Laneway bill. He's one of the hottest producers in recent memory and we can't wait to hear what he has for us at these shows.
This young fella has just dropped his debut LP 6 Feet Beneath The Moon and is already being heralded as one of the great emerging artists around. His dark brand of bluesy indie rock was always going to be in demand for a festival; today we announce that Laneway have got him.
Psych folk lord Kurt Vile seems the kind of artist who does what he wants, but he does it so well that most of us have no choice but to absolutely adore it. His new record Wakin on a Pretty Daze has seen him win over more fans that ever and we get to hear it in the live arena at Laneway 2014.
Do you really need any explanation? She's sold out all the club shows she announced following her massive Splendour slot and there'll be a billion people wanting to see her at these shows as well. The flavour of the month, sure, but we can't help thinking there's much more to come from Lorde.
Post-dubstep fellas who came to notoriety with a beautiful LP in 2010's Crooks & Lovers. They've since signed to Warp and this year released its follow up, an equally charming LP in Cold Spring Fault Less Youth; we get our chance to see if their live show has changed along with their recorded output early in the New Year.
Possibly our favourite new band of 2013, Parquet Courts have given us the incredible Light Up Gold (one of our records of the year thus far) and, more recently, the Tally All The Things You Broke EP. These garage slackers are apparently amazing live (we don't all have the luxury of heading to SxSW) and we're going to be up the front for these shows.
El-P was, without doubt, one of the best things at Laneway 2013. He's back, but this time with his buddy Killer Mike to perform their Run The Jewels project, which they literally just formed this year. Their addition is yet another delicious cherry on top of this bill for those who like hip hop.
Another band who made our top records of the year list (and everyone else's), this would have to be the most hotly anticipated tour for many, many people looking to head along to Laneway.
They are one of the biggest bands in the country and they have just announced they are back in action with a new LP currently in the works. Stake out a spot early if you want to see these Sydneysiders; the shows are going to be jam packed.
We knew they'd be back soon enough. These LA ladies charmed the crap out of us on their last visit a couple of years back and we're stoked they'll bring their hushed, moody, but catchy indie rock band to Australia for another round.
