Call to arms for Brisbane fans
The Brisbane leg of Harvest Festival could be in jeopardy with ticket sales believed to be lagging and promoter AJ Maddah admitting organisers may “have to consider the worst” deciding the future of the event.
Maddah admitted the Brisbane Harvest was struggling on his Twitter account last night, revealing that since the Big Day Out line-up had been announced, his boutique event had seen a drop in sales.
In a series of tweets he wrote, “Since BDO announced a very top heavy Harvest-centric line-up (Blur, Arcade Fire, Lumineers, etc), sales have died. Which is understandable tbh. As a small boutique festival with emphasis on arts & experience we can't compete. We're heartbroken seeing our favourite child get sickly and are doing everything to make it work.
“Either [we sell tickets with the second line-up] or we have dug an even deeper hole… That's what I am trying to decide atm.” (sic)

Sources close to the festival have believed that while the Brisbane leg has not always been the most profitable, Maddah is fond enough of the festival to go ahead if they can break even. At this stage, he is believed to be looking at a considerable loss.
This year's Harvest lineup boasts the likes of Massive Attack, Franz Ferdinand, Goldfrapp and Primus and is considered one of the strongest programs in the event's history.
