Mushroom Group supremo Michael Gudinski has urged Bruce Springsteen fans to wait for more shows to be announced, rather that reverting to buying tickets off scalpers.

The shows were the subject of a scalping scandal when they went on sale late August and today Gudinski, Chairman of promoters Frontier Touring, assured fans that they are working to finalise extra dates.

“The demand for additional shows is absolutely massive and we're currently in talks with management to determine where it is possible for additional shows to be added in the run,” he said. “I'm confident that a lot of the markets will secure another show, although at this point I'm unable to confirm if all markets will. There are numerous logistics and availabilities that need to be factored in, but we hope to have this all finalised very soon.”

An outspoken critic of ticket scalping, who has in the past called for further regulation to foil scalpers, Gudinski added, “Fans should be aware that turning to scalpers is not a wise solution. I appreciate that people are concerned they may have missed out on tickets but aside from the sheer cost of some of these tickets, the dangers of purchasing from an unauthorised outlet are considerable and I cannot tell you how many stories I've heard of fans being badly burnt by scalpers.

“There have been countless incidents where fans have not received the tickets they've paid for or in some cases have bought tickets that they've discovered to be fakes on the night. There is unfortunately nothing we can do for these people – they've chosen to spend a huge amount of money on something that they have no proof is real.

“Don't be duped by these unscrupulous sellers. Buy legitimate tickets and have peace of mind that what you have is going to get you in the door on the night.”

At this stage both Perth shows, the Adelaide show, one Melbourne date, the Hunter Valley, Brisbane and one Auckland show have all sold out.

The only shows with tickets remaining are Melbourne's AAMI Park, Sunday 16 February; Sydney's Allphones Arena, Wednesday 19 February; and Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium Sunday 2 March.
