Promoter confident shows will happen

More The Game More The Game

The promoter of the upcoming The Game tour has told theMusic.com.au that he is confident the tour will go ahead today despite an upheaval of the tour schedule today – the day it was due to kick off.

The US rapper's management had threatened to pull the plug after not receiving funds last week, but after the transactions were cleared they indicated the dates would be re-scheduled.

Initially dates in Melbourne and Wollongong were postponed and today the remaining shows – due to start at Sydney's Metro Theatre tonight – have also been pushed back.

Fady Atalla of local promoters Hip Hop TV told theMusic.com.au social media posts from The Game's official account was proof that the new dates were going ahead.

“I've been dealing with it as I go, trying to turn a negative into a positive,” he said. “I've finally got some help on board and this is going to be big… when he lands it'll be a circus, I'll tell you that.”

A representative Metro Theatre confirmed today that the show had been rescheduled to Friday 6 September, and that all tickets are valid for the new date. Refunds are also available around the country if punters are unable to attend the new dates.

A number of dates originally touted do not appear on the new schedule and Atalla said today he would try to fit in other shows between the dates.

Tomorrow's planned Newcastle date has moved to Sunday 1 September, while Thursday's Coffs Harbour booking has become the tour's first show.

Fans expressed frustration on social media at the eleventh-hour news, with one writing, “is this a fuking joke! cant tell ppl its not on-on THE ACTUAL FUKING DAY” (sic). The Game and his management thanked fans for “their loyalty and patience”.

Sunday 1 September – Panthers, Newcastle
Friday 6 September – Metro Theatre, Sydney
