It's a glorious cut of deep funk and soul.

There's a lot of pretty great soul music coming out of Melbourne town these days and, while we don't want to play favourites, we think the next record from The Cactus Channel is going to feel like a bit of a breath of fresh air for those who think they have the Melbourne sound pinned.

Wooden Boy is the band's second LP and sees the ten-piece ensemble further mining some intriguing elements of deep funk and soul music. The most obvious touchstones are Daptone acts like The Budos Band and The Menahan Street Band, but there's more than that there if you listen closely.

We are pleased to be able to bring you this LP in its entirety this week and we hope you take the time to get into the groove with this young bunch of incredibly talented Melburnians.
